Glowing Skin Is Always In

January 19, 2021

The combination of winters cold temperatures, harsh winds and low humidity levels can take its toll on skin by drying out your face and stealing your precious glow.  To help combat the effects and win the fight, try adding these five hydrating ingredients to your daily skin care regimen.

My go-to skin care line is Tula.  It’s formulated with probiotics and superfoods, feeding my skin the good stuff it needs. Creating a successful skin routine requires the same careful consideration that we use when selecting the foods we choose for fuel and programs we follow to strengthen and shape our bodies.  There is not a one size fits all recipe.  Experiment with different products to find the ones that work best for you.

Remember, there is no substitute for proper rest, hydration, eating whole foods, having a daily sweat sesh and incorporating emotional fitness habits into your daily lifestyle.

Ceramides

Ceramides hold skin together and form a protective layer to help prevent moisture loss and visible damage from environmental stressors, which helps prevent dryness and irritation. They are especially useful in eczema-prone individuals by helping to repair a poorly functioning skin barrier.

Ceramidesare most often found in moisturizers.

Best Value - CeraVe daily moisturizing lotion $12

Luxury - 24/7 moisture by Tula $52

Apple

Packed with antioxidants and rich in vitamin C apple will help protect against ultraviolet radiation and lead to younger and more radiant looking skin.

Apple extract is found most commonly in serums.

Best Value - The Ordinary Buffet Serum $15

Luxury - Dew Your Thing by Tula $48

Watermelon

Full of antioxidants such as lycopene, vitamin C and vitamin A, watermelon helps to neutralize free radicals and as a result slow down the signs of aging. Vitamin A will also encourage the growth of collagen and elastin cells.

Watermelon extract is used in illuminating serums and mists.

Best Value - Earth to Skin Super Fruits Watermelon All Over Serum $9

Luxury - Rose Glow & Get It eye balm by Tula $30

Squalane

This natural organic compound helps to balance out oil production, providing just enough moisture to keep the skin clear and healthy. Squalane oil also has powerful anti-aging properties and anti-inflammatory benefits that will help the skin to age gracefully.

Squalane is typically found in “anti-aging” products like wrinkle treatment or creams

Best Value - The Ordinary 100% Plant Derived Squalane $8

Luxury - Wrinkle Treatment Drops by Tula $68

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid helps reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles by retaining moisture in the skin, creating a plumping effect. When the skin is protected and hydrated, increased skin cell production can take place, as the skin isn't busy fighting for hydration. This leads to smoother, plumper, more youthful-looking skin cells.

Hyaluronic Acid can be found in moisturizers and intensifying serums.

Best Value - Neutrogena HydroBoost Hyaluronic Water Face Gel Moisturizer $8

Luxury - Signature Glow refreshing & brightening face mist by Tula $34
